Cognitive Assessments

Bairnsdale Psychology is a mobile assessment service. To ensure children feel as comfortable as possible, assessments are conducted at their school with the cooperation of their parents and the school.

Cognitive assessments are used to understand a child’s thinking and problem solving skills, to identify strengths and areas where support is needed. They are also used in the diagnosis of intellectual developmental disorder (intellectual disability).

We are now taking referrals for cognitive assessments.

Our cognitive assessments are used to:

  • Assess a persons thinking an problem solving skills.

  • Identify areas of strength and weakness, and provide recommendations and strategies to support these areas.

  • Identify learning difficulties and understand how to meet a persons learning needs.

  • Help educators develop individualised learning plans.

Cognitive assessment tools:

  • Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence - Fourth Edition - A&NZ Edition (WPPSI-IV)

    This assessment is appropriate for children aged 2 years and 6 months to 7 years and 7 months. The assessment, with all inclusions mentioned below, takes approximately 6 hours.

  • Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children - Fifth Edition - A&NZ Edition (WISC-V)

    This assessment is appropriate for children aged 6 years to 16 years and 11 months. The assessment, with all inclusions mentioned below, takes approximately 6 hours.

  • Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale - Fourth Edition - A&NZ Edition (WAIS-IV)

    This assessment is appropriate for individuals age 16 years and older. The assessment, with all inclusions mentioned below, takes approximately 6 hours.

  • Universal Nonverbal Intelligence Test - Second Edition (UNIT2)

    This assessment is appropriate for nonverbal individuals aged 5 years to 21 years and 11 months. The assessment, with all inclusions mentioned below, takes approximately 6 hours.

Assessments

Psychological assessments will be charged at an hourly rate, the length of time required to complete the assessment will vary depending on what assessments are most appropriate.

Our hourly fee is $220.

Travel costs may occur, depending on distance travelled from Bairnsdale.
